Pat Scatena has over 20 years of experience in the practice of corporate and securities law, both as in-house and outside counsel. Prior to starting Scatena Legal in 2008, she was a member of the in-house legal team at Intel Corporation for 12 years, and she started her career at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher
Toward the end of her tenure at Intel, Ms. Scatena served as Group General Counsel of Intel Capital, and managed a large legal team engaged in venture capital investment and acquisition transactions. While serving in this role, Ms. Scatena was the lead internal M&A counsel for Intel’s $600 million divestiture of the assets of its applications and communications processor businesses to Marvell Technology Group.
Prior to joining the Intel Capital legal team, Ms. Scatena had responsibility for SEC disclosure, compliance, and governance matters for Intel, including implementing Sarbanes–Oxley compliance programs. She also served as the lead counsel to Intel’s Treasury group for several years. In that role, she negotiated and documented a wide variety of sophisticated and complex structured finance transactions, including swap and other derivative transactions. She also developed and implemented trading policies and internal control procedures.
At Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, Ms. Scatena had a general corporate, securities, and transactional intellectual property practice. She handled mergers and acquisitions, public offerings, venture capital investments, general representations of start–up companies, and technology licensing and joint venture transactions.
Ms. Scatena is a San Francisco native, and a member of the California bar. She received her law degree with honors from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, and graduated with honors from San Francisco State University with a B.A. in Political Science. She had the great pleasure of spending her first year after law school as a law clerk for Judge Herbert Y.C. Choy of the U.S. Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit, in Honolulu, Hawaii.
